Tomyamkoong Bhumjaithai showcased excellent movement and relentless striking as he defeated Bejenuta ‘Gladiator’ Maximus at ONE Friday Fights 149.
The victory eventually came by TKO at 1:41 of round three, but Tomyamkoong established his game plan early inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Maximus, a 24-year-old debutant, threw some unorthodox punches and bounced in and out of range but Tomyamkoong stayed composed, picking his shots and refusing to be drawn in.
Maximus deployed counter-attacking tactics one again in the second round but Tomyamkoong tracked him until he found his opening, folding his opponent with a straight right to the body that buckled the knees.
Tomyamkoong stayed sharp and methodical in the third as the Moldovan toiled and Tomyamkoong cut off the ring and sent him down with a fierce left hand down the middle.
Maximus beat the eight-count but it was a brief reprieve, Tomyamkoong flew into the clinch and unleashed a relentless barrage of knees and elbows until the referee stepped in to end it.
Tomyamkoong now stands on 127 victories after stringing together three straight wins and cementing himself as a rising flyweight division contender.

Isannuea Sor Sasiwat needed fewer than three minutes to put away Khunpon Aekmuangnon, dropping the Thai with a devastating body shot KO in round one of the co-main event.
Isannuea was laser-focused from the get-go and followed flyweight rival Khunpon around the ring from the opening bell, whipping punches at him from every angle.
The 20-year-old backed up and found early comfort in his left kick, snapping it into Isannuea’s guard as a counter to slow the incoming punches.
As he began to come forward, though, Isannuea read his intentions and let rip a left body hook that hit Khunpon’s ribcage and sent him sprawling to the canvas.
With the finish, Isannuea earned his 50th win, recording back-to-back KO victories to put the flyweight division on notice.
