Barcelona After the International Break: 7 Influential Changes Before Facing Atletico Madrid

Barcelona is preparing to resume the Spanish league competitions with a strong match against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium, amidst noticeable changes in the team following the international break, according to the Spanish newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’.

The report indicated that Barcelona, under the leadership of coach Hans Flick, needs only 24 points from the remaining 9 rounds to clinch the La Liga title, taking into account Real Madrid’s results. It emphasized that a victory over Atletico would be a significant step to maintain the four-point lead at the top.

The source explained that the Catalan team no longer has the same momentum it displayed before the break, when it achieved a perfect score of 15 out of 15 points since losing to Girona, and delivered a strong performance like the big 7-2 win over Newcastle, despite being eliminated from the cup competition.

The report confirmed that the international break left varying impacts on seven of the team’s most prominent players, with Raphinha’s absence being the most notable and impactful, as he will be away from the fields throughout April.

On the other hand, Marcus Rashford returned with high spirits after participating with the England national team, as he seeks to prove himself, especially with Barcelona not intending to pay 30 million euros to keep him. Juan Garcia also gained a morale boost after joining the Spanish national team for the first time.

Conversely, Robert Lewandowski is experiencing sadness after confirming his absence from the upcoming World Cup, while Ferran Torres continues his goal drought despite his international participation. As for Lamine Yamal, despite not shining with Spain, he stood out for his stance against a racist incident during the match against the Egyptian national team.

The same source pointed to the possibility of Kounde returning to the full-back position after recovering from the injury he sustained.
