Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund was recently asked about Manuel Neuer’s upcoming decision on whether or not he will return for another season, and the sporting director said that it will all depend on how the goalkeeper’s body feels.
“There are always talks with Manu. He’s currently listening to his body to see if he feels he can play at this level for another year. There’s always an exchange, which is very good. Let’s see what April and May will bring. What’s important is what his gut feeling and his body tell him,” said Freund (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Neuer has been very strong this season, but has been dealing with a lingering calf issue in 2026. Thankfully, Bayern Munich has good options behind him like Jonas Urbig and Sven Ulreich to hold down the fort while Neuer recovers, but the veteran will eventually have to make a decision for next season.
Does he want to go out knowing he lost a lot of his final few months to injury? Would it be appealing to come back next season with a reduced workload (maybe more of an equitable split with Urbig)?
Those are certainly things that Neuer will have to factor in — after he listens to his body.
Juventus is reportedly eyeing up Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva:
Juventus are pushing to sign Manchester City attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva, with their manager Luciano Spalletti keen to land him.
Could City see a mass exodus this summer?
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is starting to get worried about where football is headed financially.
“The sums of money involved today are, of course, sometimes very high, and one could certainly say that the role of agents has perhaps become too large. I’ve already been part of commissions that tried to give the whole business a certain form, a framework, but in a free market economy, that’s not so easy to implement. It’s a very complex topic, we all know that. You have to weigh things up carefully and then say ‘no’ when the demands are disproportionate. Of course, there are also many good agents you can work with, but also some who are somewhat more radical and ruthless. But as I said: as a club, you can always decide for yourself whether you want to do things or not,“ said Eberl.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is going to be seriously courted by Inter Miami:
Inter Miami are serious about the possibility of signing Casemiro after the midfielder confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season, says Fabrizio Romano. Negotiations between the 34-year-old’s camp and the MLS club have already started in the hope of reaching a financial agreement. Casemiro is keen to join Miami, as he is attracted by the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi. But clubs from Saudi Arabia and Europe clubs are also interested in the Brazil international.
It might be tough for Inter Miami to match what the Saudis can offer financially, but MLS does have a certain appeal these days it seems.
When Maxence Lacroix was a younger player at VfL Wolfsburg, he — allegedly — caught the eye of Bayern Munich. Now, there is a report that the Bavarians are seeking to rekindle an old flame:
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now neck and neck with Bayern Munich in the race for Crystal Palace star Maxence Lacroix, who recently earned his first cap for national side France.
The race for Lacroix’s signature is heating up, with Aston Villa and Liverpool also closely monitoring the defender, who pockets £50k-a-week at Selhurst Park.
There is a feeling it may be difficult to prise the 25-year-old away from the Eagles, however, as there is no release clause in his contract, which doesn’t expire until 2029.
Lacroix would seem like a Vincent Kompany’s kind of guy for the backline, but it would likely cost too much to get him. It is an interesting name to keep an eye on for the future, though.
At least one report is indicating that Cole Palmer could look to leave Chelsea this summer in favor of a move to Manchester United:
Cole Palmer is becoming increasingly disillusioned at Chelsea and is ready to consider a move to Manchester United, according to The Sun. The 23-year-old former Manchester City academy midfielder is frustrated about a change in the Blues’ tactics and reportedly misses playing with Nicolas Jackson, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. Chelsea failing to qualify for the Champions League would further damage their chances of keeping the England international, who is also the topic of interest from Real Madrid and Bayern, despite struggling with injuries to his groin and toe this season.
