XPENG launches 3-year strategy targeting Latin America market

Gasgoo Munich- XPENG has outlined an ambitious push into Latin America, unveiling a three-year regional strategy alongside its official entry into Mexico. Announced on March 25 local time, the plan positions the company to achieve full market coverage across Latin America by 2028, marking a significant step in its broader global expansion.

To spearhead its market entry, XPENG introduced its global models, the G6 and G9, in Mexico. The G6 is priced from 819,900 Mexican pesos (approximately 310,000 yuan), while the larger G9 starts at 1,099,900 pesos (around 420,000 yuan), positioning both models in the country’s premium EV segment.

Mexico plays a pivotal role in XPENG’s Latin American strategy, serving as a gateway to both Central and South America. The company plans to use the country as a launchpad for building localized capabilities, refining product and service offerings, and gradually expanding into neighboring markets. Its approach emphasizes AI-driven technologies as a core differentiator in adapting to regional demand.

Under its roadmap, XPENG has mapped out a phased expansion. The year 2026 is expected to mark an initial breakthrough, with a focus on establishing a foothold in key markets such as Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. In 2027, the company plans to accelerate expansion into additional countries including Chile and Argentina, while broadening its lineup to include both battery electric and extended-range vehicles. By 2028, XPENG aims to achieve comprehensive regional coverage and reinforce its position in the smart mobility segment.

To support its rollout, XPENG has partnered with three leading local distributor groups, establishing an initial sales and service network across Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The first wave of retail outlets is scheduled to open on April 6, with further geographic expansion planned in subsequent phases.

The company has also prioritized aftersales readiness by setting up a centralized spare parts hub ahead of launch. Located within a major logistics corridor, the facility spans around 1,000 square meters and stocks more than 2,000 component kinds, enabling delivery within three days in core regions and up to five days in more remote areas.

Company executives have described Mexico as a strategic pillar not only for Latin America but also for XPENG’s global ambitions, emphasizing a commitment to delivering competitive products alongside a robust sales and service infrastructure.

XPENG currently operates across 60 countries and regions, with its overseas charging network spanning 31 markets. The Mexico launch marks another milestone in the company’s international expansion, as it seeks to scale its presence beyond China and Europe into high-growth emerging markets.
