Arsenal ‘title party’ forces Premier League rivals to act and avoid ugly scenes

Arsenal could win the Premier League title against West Ham in early May with supporters that have bought tickets in the home end needing to prove their allegiances

West Ham have informed supporters who purchased tickets for May’s match against Arsenal without a previous booking history that they must prove they are supporters of the club before being granted access to the London Stadium.

The Gunners sit nine points clear at the Premier League summit and could potentially secure their first league title in over two decades when they visit east London to face the Hammers on May 9.

Concerns have already emerged that Arsenal supporters have been acquiring tickets in home sections of the venue in hopes of witnessing their side lift the trophy. A fresh report from The Sun discloses that West Ham have contacted supporters who secured tickets despite having no prior booking record.

The club has notified these fans that both they and their accompanying guests must verify their support for West Ham – through ‘photographic evidence’ showing them either attending a match or donning club merchandise.

The report proceeds to feature an email dispatched from the ticket office to certain first-time purchasers.

It states: “We are currently conducting ticket checks for this fixture to ensure that away supporters do not purchase tickets in the home end and, accordingly, advise that your ticket is currently on hold and will not permit you entry into the stadium on match day in line with our terms and conditions.”

“These conditions have been accepted by you during the purchasing process and state ‘home match tickets are for the use of supporters of the club only’.

“As you have no previous booking history with us or have only/mainly booked this particular fixture, we require evidence of you and your guest(s) being a West Ham United supporter.

“Therefore, could you please provide photographic evidence that you are a West Ham United supporter which can be from a party, event or fixture wearing West Ham merchandise or West Ham related evidence (please note any merchandise will need to be purchased prior to January 2026).”

If Arsenal mirror Man City’s results over the coming weeks, they can win the title at West Ham but they will be hoping to secure the silverware sooner than that.

However, if it comes down to the fixture at London Stadium, a lot could be on the line with the Hammers battling to avoid relegation at the opposite end of the division.

The Gunners’ bitter rivals Tottenham are also down towards the bottom of the table and are just one point above West Ham with seven games remaining.
