Two people have been injured in an explosion at a recycling yard in northern Hong Kong, with online footage showing towering flames and billowing black smoke following the blast.
Police said they received a report at 11.02am on Thursday that an explosion had been heard at a site, said to be a recycling yard, at the intersection of Ting Kok Road and Fung Yuen Road in Tai Po.
“The person heard an explosion and saw flames,” a force spokesman said.
Multiple reports regarding the same location were received, he added.
Officers sent to the scene found two people injured, including a man in his fifties who had suffered second-degree burns.

The spokesman said information on the second injured person was not available as of noon. Both of the injured were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin.
