Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will arrive in Hong Kong on Thursday for a three-day visit, meeting the city’s leader, politicians and businesspeople, and will also examine key sites in the Northern Metropolis megaproject to explore collaboration opportunities.
It will be Wong’s first official visit to Hong Kong since he assumed office as Singapore’s fourth prime minister in May 2024.
The visit will follow Wong’s attendance at the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference in Hainan province, where he will deliver a keynote speech on Wednesday.
Wong is scheduled to meet Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu at Government House on Friday, according to the Hong Kong government. The two leaders would meet over lunch hosted by Lee, the Prime Minister’s Office in Singapore said.
“Prime Minister Wong will visit key sites in the Northern Metropolis to gain a better understanding of Hong Kong’s economic and development trajectory and explore new opportunities for collaboration between our two cities,” the office said.
It added that Wong, who is also the country’s finance minister, would meet Hong Kong political and business leaders, and engage with Singaporeans in the city at a reception.
