Coinbase Launches Stock Perpetual Futures

Coinbase has launched stock perpetual futures for eligible traders outside the US, providing 24/7 leveraged synthetic exposure to US stocks on a regulated, centralized platform. This expansion of our global derivatives offering aims to meet the growing demand for continuous equities exposure.

Coinbase expands its global derivatives offering with the launch of stock perpetual futures, becoming one of the first major centralized venues to offer this product. This launch strengthens Coinbase’s position in international derivatives and advances our long-term strategy of building the Everything Exchange where traders can access crypto, traditional, and emerging assets side by side.

Stock perpetual futures allow traders to gain leveraged, synthetic exposure to publicly listed US stocks with continuous, 24/7 trading.

Demand for round-the-clock equity exposure has grown rapidly among traders, particularly in markets where access to US stocks can be limited or capital intensive. Much of this activity has concentrated on decentralized venues with billions in daily trading volume. With today’s launch, we are bringing this market onto a regulated, centralized platform with institutional-grade risk management.

What’s Launching

At launch, eligible customers can trade perpetual futures on a curated set of highly liquid US stocks, including:

Magnificent 7:

  • Apple Inc.

  • Microsoft

  • Alphabet Inc.

  • Amazon

  • NVIDIA

  • Meta Platforms

  • Tesla

ETF perpetual futures, including the SPY and QQQ, are also available where permitted.Over time, we plan to expand the lineup based on customer demand — adding more highly liquid equities across sectors, additional indices, commodities, and other globally traded assets.

Key Product Features

  • 24/7 trading, including weekends

  • Up to 10x leverage on single-name stocks and up to 20x leverage on ETF perps.

  • USDC settlement on crypto rails

  • Cross-margining across all perpetual futures and spot

  • Retail access via Coinbase Advanced UI and APIs, and institutional access via Coinbase International Exchange

Stock perps are powered by the same established perpetual futures engine and risk framework used across Coinbase’s crypto derivatives markets.

Why It Matters

Traditional US stock markets operate 24/5. Global events, macro data, and crypto volatility do not. For retail traders, stock perps provide capital-efficient access to US markets with continuous trading and built-in leverage. For institutions, they enable real-time exposure management, weekend hedging, and cross-collateral efficiency within a unified derivatives infrastructure.

Start Trading Today

US stock perpetual futures are now available to eligible non-US retail traders on Coinbase Advanced and to institutions on Coinbase International Exchange. The product is not available to US persons and may be restricted in certain jurisdictions. We are working to expand this offering to additional regions in the future.
