The snow that fell in eastern Lane County this morning soon will be replaced by heavy rain throughout northwest Oregon from March 11 to March 13, the National Weather Service is predicting.
NWS said a “long duration Atmospheric River” will impact northwest Oregon over these three days. The heaviest rain is expected in southwest Washington and the northern Oregon coast, but the rain will stretch as far south as Roseburg.
NWS predicts in this three-day period Eugene will see approximately 1.64 inches of rain, but there’s some unpredictability to this forecast, and rain totals could be less than half an inch or over 3 inches.

NWS said there’s a 12% chance Eugene sees 3 inches or more of rain, and a 6% chance for 4 inches or more of rain.

This rain may lead to ponds of water on roads and minor flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage. Rockslides, mudslides and landslides are possible in sloped areas. NWS said there’s less than a 5% chance rivers in the Willamette Valley will flood.
