A new Squid Game spin-off TV show is in the works at Netflix.
Squid Game is a popular South Korean series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk that premiered on Netflix in 2021. That was followed by Squid Game Season 2 in 2024, while the third and final season was released last year. A reality competition spin-off series, Squid Game: The Challenge, premiered in 2023.
What is the new Squid Game TV show?
Per Netflix Tudum, Netflix has now announced plans for Squid Game: The VIP Challenge. It will will eight VIPs “step into the high stakes game and put their wit, strategy, and skillset to the ultimate test.”
The eight contestants who will compete in Squid Game: The VIP Challenge Season 1 are Dylan Efron (The Traitors), Hannah Godwin (The Bachelor), Kim Zolciak (The Real Housewives of Atlanta), Ryan Serhant (Owning Manhattan), content creator Kristy Sarah, Spice Girls singer Mel B, NBA champion Tristan Thompson, and Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2 fan vote winner Viper.

Viper said that he plans to cause “total chaos” during Squid Game: The VIP Challenge. He continued, “I did learn that every single decision should be considered in great detail. I will surely use a microscope with every choice I make.”
Additional details regarding Squid Game: The VIP Challenge are not available at this time. A release date has not yet been announced.
A description of Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, meanwhile, reads, “In Season 2, which is streaming now, the gripping game inspired by the original scripted series returns with 456 brand-new contestants who will compete for a life-changing $4.56 million prize. But, this time around, the stakes are higher than ever with shocking twists and never-before-played games. As players face elimination and deception at every turn, they must ask themselves, ‘Why make friends … when you can make millions?’”
