Premier League legend Wayne Rooney believes Chelsea will exit the Champions League at the quarter final stage.

The Blues secured a top eight finish to advance straight to the round of 16 where there will face either defending champions PSG or Newcastle.

The draw takes place on Friday morning, and fans will be eagerly waiting for Chelsea’s fate, as they look to win the Champions League for a third time.

If the Blues get Newcastle it will set up a triple header against Eddie Howe’s side, with the league game at Stamford Bridge sandwiched between both legs.
PSG would be the more glamorous tie in what would be a rerun of last summer’s Club World Cup final, whilst it would be the first time the two teams have met in the competition since the 2015/2016 season.

All five English teams remain in the competition, and there’s a chance there could be an English winner, but Rooney doesn’t believe it’ll be Chelsea.
The Man United legend told Prime Video Sports he thinks the Blues will get to the quarter finals, whilst Theo Walcott believes they will be knocked out by Newcastle or PSG.

Before Chelsea can think about the last 16 of the Champions League, the Blues face a huge London derby against Arsenal on Sunday.

Chelsea haven’t beaten the Gunners since 2021, and really need to take something from the game after dropping points against Leeds and Burnley.

The Blues are set to be without Marc Cucurella and the suspended Wesley Fofana, whilst Estevao is a doubt with a hamstring issue.
It’ll be interesting to see how Liam Rosenior approaches the game, but defeat would be another huge blow to our hopes of Champions League qualification.
