ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The treasurer of a Rockford-area gymnastics booster club has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $34,000.
Shondra Mclarty, 55, of Rockton, admitted as part of a plea agreement in federal court that she stole money from the Tumbling and Acro Boosters Club between 2023 and 2024.
According to court records, board members of the Tumbling and Acro Boosters Club, which is based out of — but is a separate entity from — the Gymnastics Academy of Rockford, 6630 Spring Brook Road, noticed financial discrepancies in their records.
The investigation led to McLarty, the sole treasurer for the organization, the police report said.

Police determined that in June 2023, Mclarty had made two separate payments, of $923 and $174.90, respectively, for dental work, using a credit card linked to the booster club’s bank account.
Those funds were paid by parents of children in the tumbling classes and were reportedly reserved for making payments to gyms where competitions are held, and registration fees for gymnasts.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, McLarty pleaded guilty on Tuesday to wire fraud. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine at her sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for June 23.
