Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball was reportedly not injured in a two-car crash at an intersection in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to a new report.
The Associated Press reported that the 24-year-old NBA guard was uninjured despite appearing to be the driver of one of the involved vehicles, a custom camouflage-colored hummer.

Local WSOC-TV, which published video of the crash, reported that the collision happened in the heart of Uptown Charlotte around 5 p.m. local time. The timing of the crash puts Ball behind the wheel shortly after the Hornets’ practice let out earlier that afternoon, per AP.
Citing witnesses at the scene and video of the crash, WSOC-TV reported that Ball’s custom 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 appeared to be trying to take a left at the intersection when he clipped a Kia sedan driving the opposite direction head-on, prompting the left front wheel of Ball’s vehicle to come off the car.
Both WSOC-TV and AP reported that Ball was uninjured in the crash and was seen getting out of his car and into a Lamborghini while police surveyed the scene. Both vehicles involved in the crash were towed away, according to WSOC-TV.
The outlet reported that one person was said to have injuries as a result of the crash.

Ball was previously accused of running over a fan’s foot while they sought an autograph from the basketball star in 2024. A North Carolina mother sued Ball and the Hornets, alleging that her then 11-year-old son Angell Joseph had been waiting for Ball outside of the employee entrance at Spectrum Center in downtown Charlotte during a fan event hosted by the team called “Purple and Teal Day at the Hive” in October 2023.

The mother, Tamaria McRae, said her son was “severely” injured by the athlete’s car, according to court documents obtained by ESPN. McRae told Charlotte news station WSOCTV that her son had told Ball, “LaMelo, I love you,” and asked for an autograph before the athlete ignored him and drove away.

Ball denied responsibility, arguing that Joseph’s injuries were his own fault and that the family should pay his attorney fees. McRae’s family is seeking over $25,000 in damages from Ball and his team in the case, which remains in litigation.
