From now until December 31, 2026, the Macau government is offering free direct shuttle buses from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to Macau for international travellers!
First appearing in 2024, the seamless coach service has been running for two years. The service is especially popular among visitors from Japan, Korea, and Thailand. This service makes it easier for tourists to continue their journey without the hassle of going through immigration at Hong Kong, saving more time to enjoy the beauty of Macau, a must-visit destination with stunning nightlife. Now, the Macau government is making this service complimentary for international travellers looking to explore the city.
Here’s why gig-tripping in 2026 will lead you to Hong Kong’s Macau.
Steps to apply for the free shuttle bus service to Macau
The free bus service is available for international visitors whose final destination is Macau and who hold valid foreign travel documents.
After arrival at HKIA, tourists can head to the SkyPier Terminal Transfer Coach Ticket Counter in the E2 Transfer Area. You need to sign a passenger declaration form before boarding, and don’t worry about your luggage. Simply present your airline baggage receipt 60 minutes before departure, and the service team will handle all customs and transfer arrangements.
More importantly, passengers don’t need to clear immigration before taking the shuttle bus across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to Macau. The bus will take passengers to the HZMB Macau Port for immigration. After that, you can start your trip in the city. Buses and taxis are also available outside the Macau airport.
The free shuttle bus seats are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To use the service, it is highly recommended to reserve your spot through the Macau HK Airport Bus right after booking the flight.
A boost for cross-border tourism

This initiative builds on similar schemes that Macau has run for years to attract visitors. Aside from the bus service for international tourists, past offers have included free ferry rides and buses for those coming from Hong Kong. These programmes have helped promote longer stays and boosted cross-border travel between the two special administrative regions.
