Newcastle United looks to stay in the hunt for a European spot, as they begin the Sunday slate of English Premier League action against the lowly Wolverhampton Wanderers.
There was a point earlier this season that many were concerned that Newcastle was not fit enough to keep up with the busy European schedule, as they struggled in Premier League action while competing in the UEFA Champions League.
Yet, the Magpies have managed to turn things around over the past couple of weeks. Prior to the FA Cup break, the club won three straight league matches, and has points in four of its past five contests in EPL play.
The streak has pushed Newcastle from the middle of the pack to sixth place, just one point back of Brentford for fifth in the league.
Wolves are well on their way down to the EFL Championship, as the club is facing relegation for the first time since they were promoted to the Premiership in 2018. Wolverhampton has just one victory in 21 league matches, that coming a couple of weeks ago against West Ham.
Wolves are 14 points back of 17th-place Nottingham Forest.
