Man City star Gigio Donnarumma’s agent refuses to rule out Serie A return

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, has refused to rule out a future return to Serie A for the Italy number one, despite his current satisfaction with life at Manchester City.

According to Calciomercato, Raiola discussed the goalkeeper’s situation following a weekend where Donnarumma was individually brilliant, making several high-profile saves in the Manchester Derby. Despite his heroics, City ultimately fell to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday, a result that highlighted the stopper’s importance to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Speaking to Rai, Enzo Raiola confirmed that the player is enjoying his time in the Premier League but left the door open for a move back home. “Today at Manchester City he is finding serenity with the team and with the environment, and he likes the project very much. He is also starting to understand the English league,” Raiola explained.

However, the agent sparked speculation by adding: “The other day he told me jokingly that playing five or six years there is an adventure, but it was a joke… If, however, there is the opportunity to return to Italy, we will take it.”

While a return to Italy remains an attractive prospect for the former Milan man, the financial hurdles are significant. Donnarumma currently earns a record-breaking salary at the Etihad, with figures starting at €15m net per season, making any potential move to Inter or Juventus a complex operation for the Italian clubs’ finances.
