Premier League star striker looking for a move away months after new deal talks and £40m midfielder lined up to replace Conor Gallagher by Atletico Madrid: TRANSFER WINDOW WATCH

The transfer window is open and here are today’s latest developments from Daily Mail Sport’s Simon Jones...

Gallagher’s replacement

Atletico Madrid have targeted Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as a replacement for Conor Gallagher who yesterday completed his £34m move to Tottenham.

Gallagher signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Spurs and will take the number 22 shirt. He is in line for his debut against West Ham this weekend and said: ‘I wanted to be a Spurs player and thankfully the club felt the same. It was very easy, it happened very quickly and I’m ready to get on the pitch.’

Atletico want 24-year-old Gomes to fill the void left by Gallagher. They believe Wolves are vulnerable to offers but he is valued over £40m.

Gomes is wanted by a number of Premier League sides too but most are hoping to strike a better deal in the summer if Wolves are relegated.

Serie A giants join chase for Mateta

Juventus have joined the list of clubs monitoring Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The 28-year-old, who has pushed himself into the France squad with his Premier League form, was close to signing a new contract last year but is now looking at a potential move away with the likelihood he would prefer to go abroad.

Palace have been bracing to sell him in the summer hence they are closing on a deal for Angers forward Sidiki Cherif and have been looking at targets such as Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolves and Strasbourg’s Joaquín Panichelli as they plan ahead.

Juventus expect to replace Dusan Vlahovic at the end of the season when his contract runs out.

Wolves hunting for reinforcements

Wolves are in talks to loan midfielder Marshall Munetsi to Paris FC with an option to buy but have rebuffed an approach from Besiktas to take defender Emmanuel Agbadou on loan.

The Turkish side are revising their offer.

All change at Villa

Aston Villa forward Donyell Malen landed at Ciampino airport last night ahead of his move to Roma. Malen joins on loan for £1.7m with an obligation to buy at £22m.

Villa have sold left back Finley Munroe to Middlesbrough who are in talks to sign Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento too, who is on loan at Cremonese.

Palace target France youngster

Crystal Palace are confident of agreeing a deal to sign Sidiki Cherif, 19, from French club Angers.

Palace are looking to close the fee significantly lower than the £21.7m valuation.

Experience on Hammers’ agenda

Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles has emerged as a potential target for West Ham.

The 32-year-old club captain is expected to leave this window although Newcastle are looking to cover their own defensive crisis first ideally.

Hammers midfielder Guido Rodriguez is wanted by Gremio while Lucas Paqueta has returned to training but Flamengo are expected to make another offer for him before the weekend.

In the striker market…

Everton have made an enquiry to take Youssef En Nesyri on loan from Fenerbahce but the Morocco striker is unsure about the move as he ponders offers from Saudi Arabia.

Nottingham Forest have also enquired but are working on a deal for Olympiacos forward Mehdi Taremi.

…and between the sticks!

Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is wanted by Italian side GENOA on loan with an option to buy.

Cherries assess striker options

Bournemouth have enquired about Vasco da Gama forward Rayan, 19, while Leeds United forward Harry Gray, younger brother of Spurs’ Archie Gray, has joined Rotherham United on loan.

Fofana a goner

Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has interest from Celtic and Derby County.

If the 23-year-old, who is on loan at Faith Karagumruk, leaves on a permanent it would free up an international loan spot for Raheem Sterling or Axel Disasi.

Burnley’s Sweden centre back Hjalmar Ekdal, meanwhile, is a £3.5m target for French side Nice.
