Sky Sport Italia claim that Juventus have approached Crystal Palace for Jean-Philippe Mateta, but their €35m proposal is unlikely to be satisfactory.
The interest was mentioned by transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio this evening, who suggests the centre-forward can help bolster the options at the disposal of coach Luciano Spalletti during Dusan Vlahovic’s injury.
Debate over Mateta asking price

His report maintains that Crystal Palace want €30-35m for Mateta, but that is a very different view of the situation compared to the British media.
They have the asking price at closer to €55-60m, which would be well beyond Juve’s budget for a January signing, as Manchester United are believed to be interested.
Mateta is 28 years old and his contract with Palace only runs to June 2027, which is why his value might be lowered significantly from its previous highs.

He first arrived in London from Mainz in January 2021 on loan, completing the transfer a year later for a total of circa €14.5m.
The France international scored 10 goals this season in 32 competitive appearances for Crystal Palace, along with two assists.
