A buddy cop action comedy movie starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista is making its way to streaming soon. Prime Video has set the release date for The Wrecking Crew, helmed by Ángel Manuel Soto. Soto is best known for directing the DC Extended Universe film, Blue Beetle, and the Black drama movie Charm City Kings. Notably, David Leitch was originally attached to direct the project before Soto stepped in.

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista’s The Wrecking Crew drops on Amazon Prime Video on January 28, 2026.
This film marks Momoa and Bautista’s third collaboration following Apple TV’s See and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. However, this film would technically be the second time they shared the screen. This is because although they appeared in Dune, they did not share scenes in that film.
Ángel Manuel Soto directed The Wrecking Crew from Jonathan Tropper’s screenplay. The latter’s previous writing credits include Kodachrome and The Adam Project. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Fierson, Lynn Harris, Angela Laprete, and The Batman director Matt Reeves co-produced the film, alongside Momoa and Bautista. Matt Flannery handled the film’s cinematography while Bobby Krlic composed the musical score, thus making the film the latter’s second collaboration with Soto following Blue Beetle.
The story follows two estranged half-brothers, Jonny (Momoa) and James (Bautista). The pair reunite following their father’s mysterious demise in Hawaii to solve the mystery behind his death. During their investigation to uncover the truth, the pair comes across a deep conspiracy that threatens to damage their family dynamics.
Besides Momoa and Bautista, The Wrecking Crew stars Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root, and Morena Baccarin. Supporting cast members include David Hekili Kenui Bell, Maia Kealoha, Lydia Peckham, Branscombe Richmond, and Stephen Oyoung.
Notably, this film marks Bell’s final acting role following his demise on June 12, 2025. It is also his second acting role in a film, following Lilo & Stitch, where he appeared opposite Kealoha, who played Lilo. Previously, Bell appeared in two TV shows, Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I.
