Hong Kong police have arrested nine employees of a company suspected of using surveying equipment with 45 forged certificates in five hospital expansion projects and a government construction site.
The force said on Thursday that it had apprehended six men and three women, aged 23 to 48, from acoustic and environmental services consultancy Novox for allegedly forging at least 45 certificates from four testing centres since 2022.
It added that the nine people, including three company directors and staff members, were detained after receiving reports from several organisations alleging that a subcontractor had used forged documents in government construction projects.
Novox supplied surveying equipment to four Urban Renewal Authority (URA) projects in To Kwa Wan, with the latter confirming that two of them involved devices with forged certificates.
The two projects, located at Bailey Street/Wing Kwong Street and Hung Fook Street/Ngan Hon Street, were awarded to Nation Star Development and Port Destiny, respectively.
Nation Star is owned by Henderson Land Development, while Port Destiny is a subsidiary of Kerry Properties.
