Family handoutTributes have been paid to an 81-year-old woman who died after being struck by a vehicle in Beverley.
According to Humberside Police, Kathleen Barron was hit by a Land Rover Freelander on Norwood, near the junction with Mill Lane, at about 07:40 GMT on Friday.
Mrs Barron’s family described her as the “centre of our family”, and called her “a wonderful mum, our much loved ‘Baba’ to her three grandchildren, and a truly amazing sister”.
Officers are appealing for witnesses.
Mrs Barron’s family said she was a nurse before later running her own care home, and “loved animals”.
They added: “Even at 81 she was full of energy, independent and always immaculate just how we all knew her.”
They said she was loved by “everyone who met her”.
They concluded: “Our hearts are completely broken, and we will miss her more than words can ever say.”
A Humberside Police spokesperson said a 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the specified drug limit and causing serious injury by careless driving.
He has since been released from custody pending further investigation, the force added.
