Pluribus fans are eager to know why Carol invited Zosia back into her life after The Others abandoned her. Viewers are wondering whether Carol called for her out of genuine loneliness and affection, or whether she has an ulterior motive. The latest episode reveals what Carol truly intended.

Why did Carol ask Zosia to come back on Pluribus and does she love her?
In the closing moments of Pluribus Episode 7, “The Gap,” Carol paints “Come Back” in front of her house. The episode ends with Zosia returning to Carol, who immediately breaks down and hugs her. Carol’s action indicated that she had been feeling lonely and wanted to reconcile.
This week’s episode, “Charm Offensive,” Carol and Zosia spend time together, where the former tries to know more about The Others. Throughout the episode, she often asks for details about how they communicate, where they sleep, how they stay aware of everything around the world, and even where they came from. Every evening, upon returning home, she writes down everything she learnt on her whiteboard.
One day, after she realizes that The Others are keeping her distracted, Carol confronts Zosia. That’s when she acknowledges that she won’t stop trying to find a cure, which Zosia admits to knowing as well. This changes the perspective that Carol might’ve invited Zosia back not out of loneliness, but to understand them better and reverse the situation.
However, it’s not all black and white as it looks. Their confrontation ends with the two making out. This shows that Carol genuinely has feelings for Zosia, but that doesn’t mean she won’t continue to search for a cure.
As she said in the episode, Carol finds the current global situation to be a “train wreck and unsustainable.” She even says that the hive-mind virus is like a “mental illness,” comparing it to psychosis. Carol believes that “someone has to put the world right,” and she feels that burden on her shoulders. Even if it means that they’ll abandon her again, she’ll continue to try.
Season finale episode, titled “La Chica o El Mundo,” will air on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, on Apple TV.
