Coffee Quest 419 | How many people went to all 28 coffee shops?

Destination Toledo, which ran the event for the second year in a row, said the event generated more than $200,000 for the region.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Coffee Quest 419 ended its three-month run on June 15, and the numbers are finally in.

Destination Toledo released the stats Thursday, and said the event generated an estimated $200,000 in economic activity throughout the Toledo region. 28 local coffee shops participated in the event, which began on March 15. Coffee shop visitors used a digital passport to check-in at each location and, in addition to drinking coffee, win prizes.

Down to brass tacks

Here are some of the important figures from the event, according to a press release from Destination Toledo.

  • 4,824 participants
  • 24,500 check-ins
  • 154 people completed the quest
  • 760 people earned a commemorative T-shirt
  • 15% of participants were from outside the Toledo area

That’s a lot of caffeine

It’s true. Assuming a cup of coffee or latte has about 100 mg of caffeine in it, at 24,500 check-ins, that’s 2.45 million mg of caffeine. And, again assuming each purchase was a standard latte, each of the 154 people who completed the entire quest consumed just about 2,800 mg of caffeine.

But fellow coffee enjoyers will know that number is probably quite a bit higher. After all, it doesn’t include all the cups of coffee we drink at home and at work!

We must also establish the other end of limitations in such a thought experiment. Perhaps everyone ordered hot chocolate.

Is Coffee Quest 419 coming back in 2026?

It is! Destination Toledo said in its press release that the event will return in spring of next year. The new theme, dates, prizes and participants will be announced sometime next year, as well.

“Coffee Quest 419 has been such a fun initiative for our organization to be part of, it brings together local businesses, plus invites locals and visitors to explore, have fun and support the local community,” said Caleigh Heuring, Director of Marketing & Communications for Destination Toledo, in the press release.
