On-loan Barcelona star informs club of his plans for next season

A member of the loan army at La Liga giants Barcelona has made clear to the club that his intention is not to return for next season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Clément Lenglet as the player in question.

Defender Lenglet has for his part of course spent the season to date plying his trade with Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

This comes after the brass at Barcelona agreed to farm their out-of-favour stopper out on loan to their La Liga rivals for the duration of the campaign.

Lenglet has since gone on to rediscover some of his very best form in Spain’s capital, having established himself as a key member of Atlético’s backline.

The widespread expectation, in turn, has long been that the Rojiblancos will move to make the Frenchman’s signing permanent in the summer.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this appears to be an outcome which Lenglet himself would heavily favour.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The French centre-back is due to return to Barça on June 30, but his entourage has already told the Blaugrana club that he will prioritise staying at Atlético as long as an agreement can be reached between all parties.’
