A Hong Kong man has died after his van crashed into a fire engine on West Kowloon Highway.
Police said the 44-year-old man was driving along the highway in the direction of Kwai Chung when he crashed into the emergency vehicle near Tai Kok Tsui’s Olympian City shopping and residential complex at around 2.10pm on Thursday.
Images from the scene show the vehicle was a GoGoVan, from the on-demand van-hailing service. Its front section was severely damaged in the crash.
Police said the man had become trapped in the van following the crash, with responders working to free him from the wreckage immediately after the accident.
The driver was unconscious when he was recovered from the vehicle. He was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei district, where he was declared dead at 3.20pm.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
