PREDICTED LINE-UPS | Athletic Club v Roma

With a goal advantage on aggregate, Roma will aim to reach the last eight of the Europa League when they face Athletic Club tonight at San Mames.

Despite drawing first blood at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg, Athletic Club fell apart as Roma resurrected thanks to the likes of Angelino and Eldor Shomurodov. Yeray Alvarez’s red card in the 85th minute left no hope for Los Leones to earn a victory from the match and their hearts were broken with Roma’s added-time winner.

Ernesto Valverde’s men have progressed well in the LaLiga this season as they currently sit fourth in the standings with a five-point gap from 5th-placed Villarreal. Athletic have won four of their Europa League clashes at San Mames and have managed a good scoring record both home and away.

Meanwhile, Roma have a lead to defend thanks to Shomurodov’s late strike at home. The Giallorossi have converted their slow start to the campaign into a race for the Champions League spots as they sit seventh in the Serie A table. With the victory over Como in their previous outing, Roma extended their unbeaten league run to 12 consecutive games and it is noteworthy to say that Claudio Ranieri has changed the footing of this side.

Roma’s only shot at silverware this campaign now lies in the Europa League as the league charge has gone out of hand and they exited the Coppa Italia in the quarter-finals.

Here are the predicted line-ups for the match according to Sky Italia:

Athletic Club (3-5-2): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Rensch, Koné, Paredes, Cristante, Angelino; Dybala, Shomurodov.

Roma (4-2-3-1): Agirrezabala; de Marcos, Paredes, Nunez, Berchiche; Ruiz de Galarreta, Jauregizar; Inaki Williams, Unai Gomez, Nico Williams; Maroan Sannadi.
