PSG Will Meet Aston Villa in Champions League Quarterfinals

After eliminating Liverpool on Tuesday night at Anfield, Paris Saint-Germain will be facing another Premier League club in Aston Villa with a ticket to the semifinal round on the line.

While PSG had a heavyweight fight with the Reds that needed a penalty kick shootout to determine a winner, Aston Villa won convincingly in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Club Brugge.

The English side won the first leg 3-1 and in the return leg needed time, but they put the tie to bed in the second half courtesy of goals from Marco Asensio, who is on loan from PSG and scored a brace, and Ian Maatsen allowed them to win the second leg 3-0.

Asensio will have a chance to eliminate a coach that reduced his role this season and eventually led to his departure to Villa Park during the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, Unai Emery will face the club he coached from 2016 to 2018 where he won one league title, two Coupe de France trophies, two Coupe de la Ligue trophies, and two Trophée des Champions.

Despite not playing for PSG, Marcus Rashford has been linked to a move to the French capital over the last couple of transfer windows, so it will be interesting to see if any behind-the-scenes details on his part emerge during this tie.
