Police have arrested a worker for allegedly stealing electronic equipment worth HK$3 million (US$386,112) from Hong Kong Disneyland’s warehouse and another two men on suspicion of buying the goods at a low price, the Post has learned.
A police source said on Wednesday that the suspects were a warehouse worker at the theme park on Lantau Island, and the owner and an employee of a recycling shop.
Park staff reported the theft on Tuesday, with police noting network switches and firewall devices were among 18 boxes of stolen electronic items.
The source said the total value of the goods was about HK$3 million. A computer technician, 28, who worked in the 10,000 sq ft warehouse was arrested on Tuesday for stealing the items, the source added.
During investigations, officers discovered that a car registered to the technician had visited the warehouse between March 1 and 7, and that he had not returned to work, the source said.
Upon further investigation, the force found that the electronics had been sold to a recycling store in Sham Shui Po in three separate batches.
