China Eastern targets automotive with Casablanca flights | News

China Eastern 787-9

China Eastern is adding new flights to Casablanca that it hopes will capitalise on automotive demand, with EFIS Maroc acting as GSSA for Morocco.

The service is due to start on 19 January and will cover three weekly flights between Casablanca (CMN) and Shanghai (PVG) via Marseille (MRS), operated on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with Boeing 787-900 aircraft featuring an 18-ton cargo capacity.

”The service is designed to primarily support the automotive industry by ensuring the timely and secure transport of high-value components between Morocco and China,” ECS-owned EFIS Maroc said in a press release.

“This partnership with China Eastern Airlines marks a key milestone for EFIS Maroc and ECS Group,” said Jean Ceccaldi, chief executive of ECS Group. “Combining our regional expertise with innovative tools, we aim to redefine standards in efficiency and reliability for cargo logistics.”

EFIS Maroc said that capacity for the flights would be available on the CargoAi booking platform – CargoAi is part of the ECS-owned Cargo Tech group.

Meanwhile, the airline will also use ECS Group’s proprietary solution for optimising customs reporting.

“Through this new collaboration, ECS Group reinforces Morocco’s role as a strategic gateway to Africa and reaffirms its commitment to expanding its presence across the continent,” ECS added in the release.

ECS acquired EFIS Maroc at the start of last year as part of a wider acquisition spree that also saw it expand its presence in Latin America with the purchase of Americas GSA and in Ireland with GSSA International Airline Marketing (IAM).
