nubia Z70 Ultra debuts with SD 8 Elite, 35mm main cam with vairable aperture

The nubia Z70 Ultra is the latest addition in the nubia family and it brings top-notch specs in a familiar design. This is the logical successor to last year’s Z60 Ultra, and it brings a few key upgrades, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a brighter screen and updated cameras.

The display on the Z70 Ultra grew to 6.85 inches, boasting a faster 144Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits peak brightness. There’s a slight bump up in resolution at 1,216 x 2,688 px and thinner bezels, which measure just 1.25 mm, making them the slimmest bezels on any smartphone.

The BOE-made AMOLED panel also features an optical under-display fingerprint scanner and a seventh-generation 16MP under-display selfie cam. Nubia has continued to improve the UD selfie cam experience with an enhanced algorithm for clearer selfies and an updated 430ppi screen area above the sensor.

Moving to the rear cameras, nubia is opting for a 50MP main cam with 35mm optics and an IMX906 sensor.

The new addition to the main cam is a variable aperture lens, which covers f/1.59 to f/4.0 values.

The main shooter is joined by a 70mm equivalent 64MP periscope module (OV64B) with 2.7x optical zoom and a 13mm equivalent 50MP ultrawide (OV50D) with autofocus. There’s a new camera button, too – half-press to focus and full-press to capture an image.

Z70 Ultra boots Nebula AIOS based on Android 15, which brings a host of AI features. The phone also packs an IP69 ingress protection rating, two-way satellite communication and a 6,150 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W fast charging.

Nubia Z70 Ultra comes in Black, Amber, and a limited-edition Starry Night Blue color inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. The baseline 12/256GB trim starts at CNY 4,599 ($635), while the range-topping 24GB RAM and 1TB version will retail for CNY 6,299 ($870).

Z70 Ultra is already on pre-order in China from ZTE Mall, JD.com. Tmall, Douyin. Shipments there start on November 25.

The Z70 Ultra will be available outside of China soon, with a global launch scheduled for November 26.
