Alice Mak briefs women’s sector

Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak introduced measures related to the Home & Youth Affairs Bureau announced in the Policy Address to local women’s organisations and the Women’s Commission at a dialogue today.

During the dialogue, Miss Mak pointed out that the Government attaches great importance to the support of women’s development.

Following the allocation of additional funding to establish the Women Empowerment Fund last year, the bureau will set up a dedicated Women Affairs Team and designate the post of Commissioner for Women Affairs.

Additionally, in 2024, the bureau plans to launch a one-stop family and women information portal, organise the first Family & Women Development Summit, introduce a maintenance mediation pilot scheme through the Community Care Fund and launch a new five-year Funding Scheme on the Promotion of Family Education.

Participants attending the dialogue responded positively to the measures. In particular, the designation of the post of Commissioner for Women Affairs is in direct response to calls from the women’s sector.

Participants also actively shared their views on taking forward initiatives in relation to the promotion of women’s matters and the facilitation of family education.
