5 more medals won at Para Games


Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today congratulated the Hong Kong, China delegation on winning five more medals at the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou.

 

Swimmer Chan Yui-lam bagged gold in the Women’s 100m Backstroke S14 for the delegation.

 

Mr Yeung said he was thrilled about her accomplishment, adding that she outcompeted her opponents with her skills and the victory was well-deserved.

 

Meanwhile, silver medals were scored in the Wheelchair Fencing Men’s Team Sabre, Wheelchair Fencing Women’s Team Foil as well Mixed 4x100m Freestyle S14.

 

Iron Tang also won silver in Lawn Bowls: Men’s B3.

 

Mr Yeung said the Hong Kong, China team is fully committed to giving its best and the athletes demonstrated their strength and outstanding techniques in winning the medals.

 

“Our teams have shown immense team spirit and determination, which means a lot more than the medals they won. We are so proud of them.”

 

The Hong Kong, China delegation has so far won 10 medals, including two golds, five silvers and three bronzes at this Asian Para Games.

 

“I wish Hong Kong athletes will shine with more accomplishments in the future,” Mr Yeung added.
