An eight-year-old disabled boy has died after being found unconscious at a flat in Hong Kong early on Sunday, hours after being given Chinese medicine, prescription drugs and milk to ease a fever.
The boy, believed to be a pupil at the Hong Chi Pinehill No 3 School in Tai Po, suffered from cerebral palsy and epilepsy, according to a police source.
Officers were called to a flat at Fung Yat House at Sui Wo Court in Sha Tin at around 3.50am after the boy’s 16-year-old sister reported finding him unconscious on his bed with vomit around his mouth. He was certified dead at the scene.
“There was no sign of struggle or fighting at the scene,” a police spokeswoman said.
“There were no suspicious circumstances at this stage. The cause of death is pending further autopsy.”
A police source said the sister noticed he had a fever at about 1pm on Saturday. He was given Chinese medicine, prescription drugs and some milk.
