Our expert, Dr Archana Batra, Dietician and a certified Diabetes educator, shared six healthy small meal options that will also help you in weight loss.

Dr Batra said, “Summer brings longer days and extreme high temperatures and is the perfect time for weight loss to refresh your diet.The intense heat naturally makes you shift your eating habits from heavy meals to lighter options. For those looking for weight loss and to maintain healthy weight, summer is the ideal opportunity for weight loss. Choosing healthy, hydrating, and nutrient-dense foods are very important for weight loss.”

1. Cucumber, Mint, And Yoghurt

“Rich in proteins, low in calories, and hydrating, a bowl of yoghurt with chopped cucumber and mint leaves, with a pinch of salt added to it, improves your digestion. Cucumber is rich in fibre and has a high water content that makes you hydrated. This probiotic also supports your gut health,” said the doctor.

2. Sprout salad

Dr Batra shared, “Sprouts salad is rich in proteins and fibres that help to curb your cravings. Sprouts such as moong and groundnuts, whether boiled or raw, with chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander, lemon, and salt make a protein-rich light meal for this summer.”

3. Coconut water smoothie

“It is rich in electrolytes and antioxidants, and this smoothie is perfect before or after a workout. Blend coconut water with some spinach, frozen berries, and a spoon of chia seeds. This smoothie makes you energetic and healthy,” shared Dr Archana.

Dr Batra said that watermelon is full of water that helps you to stay hydrated and full with minimal calories. Take juicy watermelon cubes and sprinkle feta cheese, mint, and balsamic glaze, a natural sweetener, to make it even more delicious and sweeter. “It is truly hydrating food,” she mentioned.

5. Chilled Vegetable Soup

“Veggie soup is rich in antioxidants and fibres, and low in calories, which helps in detoxification and improves digestion. A cold soup made up of blended tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, garlic, and olive oil is the light food that helps in weight loss,” said the expert.

6. Fruits Chaat

Dr Archana mentioned, “Fruits are natural sugars, rich in fibre, and low in calories that keep you energised. A bowl of seasonal fruits with a pinch of rock salt and sprinkled lemon juice is the light snack option for this summer for those who want to lose weight.”
