Among the Chinese passport holders were two children, aged 12 and 13, born in Shanghai, Thai media reported.
The other three adults, aged between 42 and 45, were born in Zhejiang province and Shanghai.
The rest were all Thai nationals, comprising two female crew members, the pilot and co-pilot.
The cause of the crash is still unclear.
The crash occurred shortly after the Cessna Caravan C208B aircraft flight TFT 209, operated by the Thai Flying Service Company, took off from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport at 2.46pm.
Contact was lost when the plane was an estimated 35km (22 miles) southeast of the airport.
It was heading to Trat, a coastal province about 275km southeast of the Thai capital.

Rescuers found badly shattered body parts in a mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao. Video from the scene also showed highly fragmented pieces of the plane in water in the middle of the wooded area.
A spokesman for Hong Kong’s Immigration Department said in the early hours of Friday that he had immediately tried to understand the situation through Beijing’s foreign affairs office in the city and the Chinese embassy in Thailand.
The department had not received any help requests from any Hong Kong residents related to the plane crash so far, the spokesman added.
