15 medals added to Para Games haul


Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today congratulated the Hong Kong, China delegation on winning 15 more medals at the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou.

 

Yeung Hiu-lam scored gold in the Boccia Women’s Individual BC2 event for the delegation.

 

Apart from highlighting that the boccia competitor remained in high spirits throughout the competitions, Mr Yeung lauded her for performing well even under stress.

 

“She is worthy of our respect for the efforts and dedication behind the gold medal.”

 

Additionally, Wu Man-ying bagged a gold medal in the Lawn Bowls Women’s Single B7 event.

 

Mr Yeung praised her for being ambitious and fearless when playing against strong opponents.

 

“We are so happy to see that her long and tough training finally paid off when she claimed the gold medal.”

 

Meanwhile, silver medals were scored in the Table Tennis Women’s Single TT7, TT11, Lawn Bowls Women’s Single B2 as well as Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB14.

 

The delegation also won nine bronzes in Boccia, Lawn Bowls, Table Tennis and Wheelchair Fencing.

 

Mr Yeung said the Hong Kong, China team members never stop making breakthroughs for their dreams in sports and their successes did not come about by chance.

 

“We extend our congratulations to our athletes, their coaches, supporting team and families.”

 

The Hong Kong, China delegation has so far won 25 medals, including four golds, nine silvers and 12 bronzes at this Asian Para Games.
