Scarlett Johansson just spilled the tea on how her love story with Colin Jost got off to a peculiar start. Johansson revealed their first date back in 2017 fizzled out way sooner than either expected. She admitted she felt a little frazzled and out of her element, leaving Colin wondering if their relationship would work.

The Avengers actress opened up about how nerve-wracking that first date with Colin Jost really was in a new episode of Today with Jenna & Friends. She admitted she’d rarely been asked out the classic way before, calling herself a “serial monogamist” who wasn’t used to casual dating scenes.
Colin took her to a nice Italian spot in New York’s East Village, and things started off great. But when the plan shifted to drinks afterward, Johansson got anxious. “I have to go now. I need to leave,” she remembered thinking, cutting the night short and leaving Colin a bit puzzled (via People)
Johansson laughed, recalling how her sudden exit even confused her babysitter, too. When she reached home, she was asked, “Why are you home?” “I got home to relieve my babysitter, and it was like 9:36, and she was like, ‘Why are you home?!’ I was like, ‘I went on this date, and it was.…I just felt so flustered.”
Colin Jost also admitted he thought the date was a flop at first. “I totally thought that was it. You were acting so weird,” he confessed. Despite the shaky start, the sparks stuck, and the couple started dating.
Johansson and Jost first met in 2006 when she hosted SNL, but sparks didn’t fly until 2017. By then, Johansson had just wrapped her divorce from journalist Romain Dauriac, with whom she shares 11-year-old daughter Rose. Before that, Scarlett was hitched to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.
Johansson and Jost now have a son, Cosmo, 4, and they tied the knot in a 2020 ceremony. Jost even surprised Johansson on stage during her SNL hosting gig last May with roses and a kiss.
