Realme P3 Ultra hands-on – GSMArena.com news

Realme launched the P3x and P3 Pro last month as a part of its India-exclusive P-Series, and today, the brand added the Realme P3 Ultra to the lineup. We got our hands on the Realme P3 Ultra, and here are our firsthand impressions of Realme’s first-ever Ultra smartphone.

The Realme P3 Ultra comes in a yellow-colored retail box, including a protective case, documentation, a SIM ejector tool, a USB cable, and an 80W charger.

The Realme P3 Ultra features a 6.83″ 120Hz quad-curved AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. It has a 2,800×1,272-pixel resolution and 1,500 nits peak brightness. The screen also has Widevine L1 certification for 1080p video streaming in supported apps and supports HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG codecs.

The display also has a centered punch-hole for the 16MP selfie camera. It has an f/2.4 aperture, 85° FOV, and uses the Sony IMX480 sensor. The selfie camera can record videos in 1080p resolution at up to 60 fps.

Underneath the screen is an optical fingerprint scanner, which is fast and accurate. However, placing it higher would’ve improved the phone-unlocking experience.

Turn the phone around, and you get a squircle-shaped camera island housing flash and two cameras – 50MP primary and 8MP ultrawide. The 8MP ultrawide camera – using an OmniVision OV08D10 sensor – has an f/2.2 aperture and 112° FOV. The 50MP unit, using a Sony IMX896 sensor, has an f/1.8 aperture and 84.4° FOV. It also has OIS and can record videos in up to 4K resolution at 60 fps.

The camera island has a matte finish, and on the Glowing Lunar White model – which is the subject of this article – it has accented borders. The rear panel is protected by the Caihong CG-21 glass and has a glittery Moon-themed pattern, which looks nice.

Realme says the Glowing Lunar White model’s back cover is “crafted with glowing materials” that make it glow in the dark. However, in our experience, the panel didn’t glow even once in the dark, making us question Realme’s marketing. We asked Realme for clarification on this feature but didn’t get a reply.

That said, we do like the Realme P3 Ultra’s overall build. It has shiny, flat frames that aren’t glossy, meaning no fingerprint smudges. The right-side frame has the volume rocker and an accented power button with good feedback. At the bottom is the USB-C port, flanked by the SIM card slot, primary microphone, and a speaker grille. Up top is the IR blaster and secondary mic with speaker holes.

The Realme P3 Ultra is powered by the Dimensity 8350 Ultra SoC and comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone runs Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0 out of the box, but Realme hasn’t mentioned anything about the software support on their website.

Well, we wouldn’t expect more than two years of Android version upgrades for the P3 Ultra since even the flagship GT 7 Pro only gets three years of Android version upgrades and four years of security updates. Nothing more than that because Realme says “no one uses a phone that long.”

Fueling the Realme P3 Ultra is a 6,000 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery having 80W charging support. Realme says it can charge from 1% to 100% in 47 minutes with the bundled 80W power adapter.

Other highlights of the Realme P3 Ultra include dual speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and bypass charging. The Realme P3 Ultra also comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings and 90FPS gameplay support for BGMI.

Realme GT 7 Pro

The Realme P3 Ultra will go on its first sale in India on March 25 through Realme’s Indian website, Flipkart, and mainline channels. It comes in Glowing Lunar White, Neptune Blue, and Orion Red colors with three memory options – 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB, priced at INR26,999, INR27,999, and INR29,999, respectively.
