Jeff Bezos‘s wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, has announced that the couple is donating a significant portion of their wealth to charity this year. In an exclusive appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, Sanchez Bezos shared that the family’s “Day 1 Family Fund,” which the couple founded in 2018, is giving $102.5 million in new grants to 32 non-profits across the US this year. Sanchez Bezos said: “This year, we’re able to give more than $100 million — it makes a huge impact.” She also highlighted that this is just the beginning of their philanthropic efforts. “This is just the beginning. It’s a $2 billion commitment, so we’re gonna continue doing it,” Sanchez Bezos added. She even noted they rely on advisers to distribute the funds effectively, saying, “We have an incredible group of advisers on the ground, they know what communities need. We’ve been able to give to all 50 states, and they really tell us what places like the [Washington, D.C., nonprofit] Community of Hope need.”
