Hong Kong Reports an 80% Increase in Visitor Arrivals

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reports an 80% increase in visitor arrivals for the first five months of 2024, highlighting significant growth in tourism.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has reported a significant surge in visitor arrivals for the first five months of 2024. Provisional figures for May indicate that visitor numbers reached 3.4 million, marking a 20% year-on-year increase. Of these, Mainland visitors accounted for 2.63 million, representing a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. Non-Mainland visitors saw a remarkable 43% year-on-year growth, totaling over 770,000.

Cumulatively, from January to May 2024, Hong Kong welcomed a total of 18 million visitors. This figure reflects an impressive 80% increase from the same period in the previous year, showcasing a robust recovery and growth in the tourism sector.

This surge underscores Hong Kong’s attractiveness as a prime destination and reflects the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to boost tourism. The HKTB’s data highlights the continued appeal of Hong Kong to both Mainland and international visitors, contributing significantly to the local economy.
