Hong Kong Business Aviation Sector Gets a Boost as Sino Jet Orders 50 More Aerofugia eVTOLs, Update You Need to Know

Published on
December 6, 2025

A significant advance in the Hong Kong business aviation market has been marked by a fresh order placed by Sino Jet for an additional 50 eVTOL aircraft from Aerofugia. The expansion builds on a previously signed contract for 100 AE200 units and was formalised during the recent Aero Asia show in Zhuhai. The development signals a strategic move by Sino Jet to broaden its service offering beyond traditional jets, embracing low-altitude, short‑haul mobility alongside its established private aviation operations.

Expanding the Fleet with Aerofugia’s AE200 eVTOLs

Under this agreement, the company’s total commitment to the AE200 eVTOL platform rises to 150 aircraft. The additional 50 AE200s are expected to form the first tranche in what Sino Jet describes as the initial phase of commercial deployment of its “business aviation + eVTOL” model. The decision reflects confidence in the potential of eVTOL technology to augment conventional business aviation services within the Hong Kong business aviation sector and beyond.

At present, Sino Jet’s fleet comprises a variety of high-performance jets from major manufacturers. These include aircraft from leading brands such as Gulfstream, Dassault, Bombardier, Embraer, Airbus and Boeing. The incorporation of Aerofugia’s AE200 into this existing structure is intended to diversify the mobility offerings of the Hong Kong‑based operator. The elevated mix of aircraft types is designed to satisfy a broader array of travel demands—from long-haul private jet flights to rapid, low-altitude “last-mile” connections.

Safety Standards Set for eVTOL Integration

Crucially, Sino Jet has committed to applying its globally recognised business aviation safety standards to the operation of the eVTOL fleet. Continuous airworthiness monitoring, comprehensive safety management systems and rigorous personnel training protocols will be extended to the AE200 operations. The measure is intended to surpass the standard safety requirements commonly associated with eVTOL operations in China. By leveraging its existing framework for regulatory compliance and aviation safety, Sino Jet aims to ensure that the introduction of Aerofugia’s eVTOLs meets the highest levels of operational reliability.

Sino Jet’s group president, Li Yuanfeng, emphasised that this partnership transcends a mere acquisition of new aircraft. Rather, it represents a strategic integration of long‑haul business aviation excellence with the flexibility and efficiency of low-altitude eVTOL mobility. The objective is to establish a secure, streamlined and environmentally conscious multi‑dimensional transportation network. In doing so, Sino Jet aims to set new precedents within the Hong Kong business aviation community and in the broader regional mobility landscape.

Leveraging Infrastructure for Seamless Operations

To support the planned rollout of eVTOL services, Sino Jet intends to leverage its existing network of fixed-base operations (FBOs) across China. The company currently operates an FBO in Chengdu and maintains bases in over ten major Chinese cities. Additionally, Sino Jet has extended its operational reach beyond China, with bases in Singapore, Japan, Europe, the Americas and most recently, a new facility launched in Dubai in partnership with local operators Jetex and Falcon Aviation. This expansive infrastructure is positioned to underpin eVTOL landing facilities in key commercial districts—a foundational element for effective “last‑mile” connectivity using Aerofugia’s AE200 aircraft.

AE200 eVTOL: A Game-Changer for Urban Mobility

The AE200 eVTOL itself has been specified with a range of 200 kilometres (approximately 109 nautical miles) and a cruising speed of 230 km/h (124 knots). The platform was described by Aerofugia as suitable for a variety of commercial applications: airport transfers, intercity connections and cultural tourism services. According to projections shared by the parties, flights to and from airports using AE200 could reduce travel times by as much as 50 percent compared with road transport over the same routes—a potential game‑changer in traffic‑congested urban areas and busy airport corridors.

Conclusion: Pioneering Hybrid Mobility in Hong Kong

In summary, the acquisition of an additional 50 Aerofugia AE200 eVTOL aircraft by Sino Jet represents a calculated step forward for the Hong Kong business aviation industry. By integrating Aerofugia’s cutting-edge eVTOL technology into its established business aviation operations, Sino Jet has positioned itself to pioneer a hybrid mobility model that blends conventional jet travel with efficient urban or short‑haul air transit. The move is expected to redefine standards for safety, convenience and connectivity in business aviation across Hong Kong and the wider region.

Source link
