ISLIP, NY — Healthy, Mediterranean-inspired food is coming to Islip soon.
Hummas Fit—a healthy, fitness-focused meal-prep distributor—will open at 14 E Main St. soon, with a soft opening on May 13 and a grand opening slated for May 17. The Islip location will be the tenth for owners Liana and Tony Mavruk.
“I competed in competitive bodybuilding and through that journey, I discovered my deep love for cooking and how important convenient, healthy meals are—especially for those of us living busy, on-the-go lifestyles,” Liana said. “Whether it’s students, professionals, or parents, everyone benefits from having clean, delicious meals ready to go.”
The couple opened their first location in 2015 in Holbrook, which Liana said began as Hummus Mediterranean.
“When that location was struggling, we introduced Hummus Fit, a healthy meal prep concept that really resonated with our customers—and it completely turned things around,” she recalled. “Fast forward to today, we’re approaching 10 years in business and are so proud of how far this journey has come.”
Liana said the Islip shop will offer the same menu as the Lake Grove location that opened last year, including meat, keto and vegetarian options, 60 pre-made meals, a create-your-own hot food line, fresh fruit and veggie smoothies, high-protein shakes and their signature protein-packed Buffin Muffin Bakery items.
“We’ll also have grab-and-go fridges stocked daily for convenience,” she added.

Liana said Islip seemed like a perfect match for Hummus Fit after growing the business around Long Island and beyond to Lynbrook, Deer Park, Holbrook, Selden, Ronkonkoma, Lake Grove, Lindenhurst, Woodbury and Island Park.
Hummas Fit also ships its products nationwide through its website and is available in over 40 locations nationwide, including Foundation Nutrition stores, Total Nutrition, gyms, SoBol, and select 7-Eleven stores across Long Island, Queens and the Bronx.
But after accomplishing so much, Liana calls the Islip location a “huge milestone.”
“We’ve had our eye on Islip for a while. It’s a vibrant, health-conscious community that shares the same values we built our brand on. When this space became available, it felt like the right fit—not just in terms of location, but the energy of the town and the people,” Liana said. “We’re really excited to bring Hummus Fit to this part of the island.”
When Hummas Fit opens its doors in May, it’ll follow about three months of “hard work, completely gutting and rebranding the space,” Liana said.
At the May 13 soft opening, visitors will find 30 percent off in-store all week. Then on May 17, Liana said they’re “going big” with exclusive in-store deals, special appearances from well-known fitness influencers and the debut of a brand new Buffin Muffin.
The Mavruks have seen a lot of growth while navigating the increasingly tough food industry. But staying resolute while building a business is the Mavruk’s secret ingredient.
“The biggest challenge has definitely been balancing work and family. In life, we believe that family always comes first. We’ve built this brand on authenticity, transparency and loyalty, and I think people feel that when they walk into one of our locations,” Liana said. “We’ve made mistakes, grown with our customers and always tried to stay real. That’s why we’ve made it this far, and why we’re just getting started.”
