August 2024 is sure to keep viewers entertained as it will deliver many new and exciting Chinese dramas. The lineup will cover various genres, such as costume, spy, and romance, among others. From wartime drama A Lonely Hero’s Journey to period thriller Chang Le Qu, here’s a list of Chinese series that will be broadcast throughout the month of August.
A Lonely Hero’s Journey
This wartime Chinese drama will premiere on August 6, 2024. Joseph Zeng will be seen playing the role of Gu Yi Zhong, the head of the Gu family. After graduating from a famous foreign university with an architecture degree, Gu Yi Zhong returns to his hometown, Suzhou. Although he works as a cultural preserver, he has bigger plans. Notably, during the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese forces, he actively participates in anti-Japanese activities.
Eventually, the Japanese frame Gu Yi Zhong as a traitor to break his spirits. After failing to prove his innocence, he takes an oath to take his revenge by overthrowing the Japanese army. To achieve this goal, he becomes a secret member of the Suzhou Secret Service Station and forms a strong team.

Embrace in the Dark Night
This romantic Chinese drama will also premiere on August 6, 2024. While traveling abroad, Wen Xi (Gao Rong Fang) is trapped in an underground fight club and is forced to become the prize for the champion. Meanwhile, Xu Zhe Qing (Jesse Ren) participates in the fight to become the champion. However, unknown to everyone, Xu is a private security consultant who is actually there to rescue Wen Xi. Meanwhile, the owner forces Zhe Qing to be a permanent club member. While facing countless setbacks, Wen Xi and Xu Zhe Qing become attracted to one another. Finally, they manage a daring escape.
A few years later, Wen Xi faces another crisis as her twin sister, Wen Hao, suddenly passes away under mysterious circumstances. While investigating the case, she crosses paths with Xu Zhe Qing once again. However, he is now her opponent.

Wu Zhu Zhi Hua
The historical romance series Wu Zhu Zhi Hua recently premiered on August 4, 2024. It features Zhao Jia Min and Liang Xue Feng in the lead roles. The Chinese drama is an adaptation of Shi Qiam Ah’s web novel Xia Nv Fu Chou and follows the fated love story of Lin Yue Er (Zhao Jia Min) and Guo Feng (Liang Xue Feng).
The drama will release a total of 24 episodes and will be available to stream on Tencent Video.
Chang Le Qu
Chang Le Qu has a release date of August 22, 2024. An adaptation of Feng Huang Xi’s web novel Chang An Tong Que Ming, this Chinese drama features Ding Yu Xi, Ancy Deng, Mao Zi Jun, and Xiao Yan in the lead roles.
The wuxia drama will reportedly follow the story of two mortal beings who pose as a couple to avoid danger. While facing a series of bizarre and problematic incidents, they fall for one another. However, the circumstantial relationship soon turns real, and they vow to tackle the coming dangers side by side.
The drama will air on MGTV.
Blue Canvas of Youthful Days
This Chinese BL drama will premiere on August 6, 2024. The mini-series will follow the story of Qi Lu (Guo Jia Le), who has had a strict upbringing under the tutelage of his controlling father. To rebel against his dominance, he decides to join Bo Yi Art Studio, where he crosses paths with Qin Xiao (Zhang Xuan Yu), a talented artist from a nearby village.
Although their relationship starts off as rivals, they soon get closer and form a bond. Qi Lu eventually realizes that his new companion also has a complicated and troubled life. Ultimately, they fall in love and heal each other’s traumas.
