ComingSoon is exclusively debuting the Wayward trailer, previewing the upcoming drama about a family’s run-in with a female hitchhiker that kickstarts a quest that blurs the line between kidnapping and running away.
What happens in the Wayward trailer?
The Wayward trailer details the story of Cleo, an 11-year-old who goes on a road trip with her mother when the pair pick up a hitchhiking musician. After entrusting the hitchhiker to watch her daughter, Cleo’s mother returns to find the pair gone, and the musician suddenly demands ransom money for her return.

Wayward is written and directed by Jacquelyn Frohlich and stars Jamie Anne Allman, Chloe Guidry, Jessica Sula, Joseph Barone, Will Brittain, Colleen Camp, Regi Davis, Helen Johns, Yuuki Luna, Rob Morrow, and Jess Weixler. The film is set to release on November 15, 2024, at the Laemmle Noho 7, with Frohlich hosting a Q&A for the release.
After its premiere, the film will open on November 20, 2024, at the Village East by Angelika in New York City for a weeklong engagement. The film will then release widely in the first quarter of 2025 and will be available on Apple TV, Amazon, and Google Play stores.
