Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in Mosquito, a comedy series from acclaimed screenwriter Tony McNamara.
Who will Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones play in the new Hulu TV show?
According to Deadline, Mosquito is a “sardonic look at a young couple’s relationship.” Kate (Edgar-Jones) and Ed (Hoult) are a recently married couple whose secrets begin to unravel as life chips away at the personas they present. The kicker? The couple’s unraveling starts with an “intrusive mosquito.”
The six-episode series has received a straight-to-series order. Mosquito will air on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ in international markets.
McNamara will write and executive produce Mosquito. The comedy is a reunion for McNamara and Hoult, who collaborated on Hulu’s The Great, a satirical comedy about the rise of Empress Catherine the Great of Russia. McNamara and Hoult both received Emmy nominations for their work on The Great.
“I’m thrilled and excited to work with and team up two of the best actors around,” McNamara said in a statement. “I can’t wait to go make absurd comedy with them.”
Additional executive producers include Hoult, Edgar-Jones, Marian Macgowan, Tracy Underwood, and Daniel Pipski. 20th Television, Piggy Ate Roast Beef Productions, and Hustle & Punch will produce Mosquito. Filming will begin in 2026.
Hoult is coming off a busy 12 months. In 2024, Hoult starred in The Order, Juror #2, and Nosferatu. This past summer, Hoult portrayed Lex Luthor in Superman. The English actor will reprise Luthor for the sequel, Man of Tomorrow, in theaters July 9, 2027.
Edgar-Jones also had a successful 2024, starring in the hit blockbuster Twisters. In 2026, Edgar-Jones will portray Elinor Dashwood in Focus Features’ upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Sense and Sensibility. The British actress is currently filming Here Comes the Flood, a Netflix heist film starring Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson.
Besides his work in television, McNamara wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplays for The Favourite and Poor Things.
