5 New Hong Kong restaurants you need to visit this month

Hong Kong’s food scene is heating up with all kinds of deliciousness this February, welcoming a handful of hot new restaurants across the city. From French-inspired bites to affordable Chinese fare or even a juicy steak with a side of views, there’s something to suit every taste. Here’s a quick rundown of the spots you’ll want to check out this month.

This intimate French dining venue is the brainchild of the team behind casual sandwich joint Croque. Helmed by chef Cédric Tsia, who brings an inventive touch to French classics, the restaurant offers dishes like deep-fried soft-boiled eggs with corn sauce or beef tartare, poached yellow chicken with koshihikari rice, and grilled ribeye steak with bearnaise sauce. The vibe is casual yet chic, perfect for a weekday lunch or a cosy date night.

For a taste of authentic Chiu Chow cuisine, head to Chiu Bistro in Taikoo Shing. This casual spot offers wallet-friendly lunch sets featuring noodles paired with meatballs, seafood, or beef, as well as home-style dishes like wok-fried sliced chicken with crispy kale. They also serve Chiu Chow-style hot pot with three broth options: beef offal in clear soup, pig stomach with preserved vegetables in pepper soup, and coriander with century eggs. It’s a great spot for a hearty, no-fuss meal

Shun 鉄板焼.天ぷら 旬

Located at the Four Seasons Hotel, Teppanyaki Tempura Shun combines teppanyaki and tempura in one luxurious experience. Helmed by chefs Nobuyasu Kamiko and Masashi Hongo, the restaurant offers omakase menus featuring seasonal ingredients. Signatures include Kumamoto Wagyu Chateaubriand, Ise Ebi (spiny lobster), and aromatic tempura creations like sea urchin and tiger prawns.

Tucked away in Soho, Lala is the latest from chef Franckelie Laloum and hospitality figure Michael Larkin. Think French classics with a modern twist with dishes like parsley garlic frogs’ legs, duck and poultry paté en croute, and charcoal-grilled turbot with a beautiful hollandaise sauce. The vibe is relaxed, and the cocktails are creative. Perfect for a chill night out.

Omaroo Grill

If you’re into steaks and skyline views, Omaroo Grill is your spot. Meaning ‘a beautiful view’ in Aboriginal language, Omaroo is perched on the 26th floor of H Queen’s – smack dab in the middle of all the action. They serve up premium cuts like Wagyu tomahawk and Australian-style steaks (fired on the barbie), as well as entrée options such as pan-seared king salmon, chilli lobster, and even potato pithivier pie for vegetarian diners.
